Impeachment Hearings Fail: Poll Shows Both Sides More Sure About Trump Than Ever

Why do the impeachment hearings fail to convince anyone? A new NPR/PBS Newshour/Marist poll shows that the vast majority of Americans can’t imagine anything in the hearings will change their minds about President Trump’s guilt or innocence. Both parties are more sure about Trump than ever. What Democrats have heard makes them more certain Trump should be impeached and removed. What Republicans have learned, listening to the same testimony, is that Trump did nothing impeachable. How can we run a participatory government — like a Republic — when folks can’t even agree on the facts…or when they’ve made up their minds in advance so that evidence has no impact?
